Todd Jr's first camping trip :)

May 19-20, 2012
For our 3 month old son's first camping trip we decided just to do an
overnighter at a nearby Forest Service campground.  I had never been to
Table Mountain Campground on the Angeles NF, but knew its locale and thought
it would be a good choice.  But it was even better than I expected.  This
campground is great - there is a lot of space between sites and tremendous
views of the higher mountains on one side and the desert floor on the other.
Lots of wildflowers and wildlife this time of year.  The weather was
phenomenal - perfect 70* during the day and 50* at night.

A bunch of folks joined us on Saturday for a hot dog roast, including
Justdropin (Cris) and Sunbeam (Albert), and my friend Sonya and her husband,
our brother-in-law Rod, and my parents.  For all but the last 3 this was the
first time meeting Little T :)  Justdropin brought him a cake!  And Sonya his
first Smokey Bear and Smokey Bear bib and t-shirt.

I planned out what to bring carefully, having limited space in our compact
SUV.  Turned out great - everything I brought we used, and the only thing I
forgot was cutlery!  Good thing we were near the town of Wrightwood so Rod
and Albert could run into town to get some so we could eat the potato salad
and beans.

The night was uneventful.  Todd Jr. enjoys being outside and loves looking at
trees.  We had a small campfire and he liked looking at it as well.  He cried a
little after everyone left but I think he was just a little overtired - he
doesn't nap well when there are lots of people around!  The turn-around of
that was he slept soundly throughout the night - and may have slept through
the night for the first time had I not awakened him to nurse!

Anyway, I had a great time - this is pretty much a dream come true for me :)
