Early Anniversary Trip to the Beach

April 25-26, 2009
If all goes as planned, our 2nd wedding anniversary gift for ourselves will be our own home :)  Needless to say, we have been and are going to be even more busy this next month finalizing the contract and packing and moving, so we decided to take an early anniversary trip to the beach.  We drove west out I-10 to Santa Monica then north on the PCH (Pacific Coast Highway) to Malibu and ate lunch at Ralphs (nicest grocery store I've ever seen and they make great sandwiches!).  Then we drove north to Leo Carrillo State Park where we stayed for a night.  The campground was busy but the nearby beach was peaceful and we took a few nice walks admiring the scenery and birds... also the talented surfers, windsurfers, and kite surfers.  On Sunday we ate breakfast then drove the length of the famous and beautiful Mulholland Highway which travels east to west along the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area.  We stopped and walked around the Paramount Ranch where many well-known Western TV shows (including my and Todd's old favorite "Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman") and movies have been filmed.  We had a very enjoyable weekend away, but not too far away, from home.
Someone set up a teepee at the campground...  why not?

Don't mess with the Marshall, I hear he's mean!

We had fun seeing all the Corvettes, Lamborghinis, Ferraris, etc. that were out driving this road on Sunday...
Yep, our Jeep was outclassed for sure!
