Death Valley National Park, CA
On day nineteen we drove to Beatty and Rhyolite, Nevada.  Beatty is your typical remote
Nevada desert town.  Rhyolite, in its hayday, was once the second largest town in Nevada
behind Virginia City.  Now there are just crumbling buildings and mine shafts.  We met a BLM
ranger there who gave us a geology lesson.

"Some people ask me about these rocks, but I don't know much about rocks.  So I did some
studying.  This here is a dog rock... Perfect size to throw at a dog.  These are leavorites.
You see them and you leave em right there.  And this is a sex rock.  Yep, just another fuckin'
rock."
