| On Day 24 we drove to Great Basin National Park. It was cold and wintry, such a change from Death Valley and Mexico! Great Basin NP is a fantastic place in far eastern Nevada. The mountains are high, there are ancient bristlecone pines and glaciated valleys up top, and underneath are limestone caverns. "One of the most unique features of the cave are parachutes, which resemble chantrelle mushrooms, two plates fused together with ribbing beneath." |
