Kristine and Mindi lookin cool before our trip
A few hazards we had to canoe around
The colors were amazing!
Kristine smiles from the front of the canoe
Leaves float on the reflections of the trees they fell from
A brilliant red tree
I handed the camera off to Mindi so she could take a picture of Kristine and me in our big blue canoe
More leaves...
More reds...
Mindi floats on ahead
We had the best time yesterday!  Mindi, my sister Kristine, and I went canoeing on the Ipswich River which is about an hour north of Boston.  We rented canoes from the Audubon Sanctuary there which was quite cheap compared to some places.  Then we spent a few hours paddling first upstream then down.  Upstream was more wooded and the fall colors were amazing!  Downstream eventually became more open but at first navigating the river there was very tricky.  There's not really a bank in most places but rather the river just meanders around tree trunks and under canopies of leaves.  There were leaves down to the river in a lot of places and we felt like we were in a Tolkien book floating under and around them.

Mindi was in one canoe and my sister and I were in another.  I was in the back of the one Kristine and I were sharing and steering was my main job.  But the river is quite narrow and there are many tricky spots.  At one point my sister was headed right for a tree and I couldn't turn the canoe fast enough.  Then I just started laughing and that made it worse because I couldn't paddle at all while I was laughing.  My sister ended up right in the leaves and glaring at me, lol!  She said she's never gonna let me steer again :p
