| Artwork inspired in part by my desert photographs |
| A fellow hiker and friend from the backpacker.com forums, Jeremy, aka Olyhiker, created this awesome painting using pieces of my photographs taken in Petrified Forest NP. It is titled "Salmon Dance" The meaning as described by Oly: "The salmon runs in the Pacific Northwest are becoming less and less as time goes by. To convey this idea into a painting I took scenes (Tarol's pics) of the desert and surrounded the spawning salmon - (giver of life). I wanted to take the Salmon out of its natural habitat and place it in an environment which cannot sustain salmon. If you will a glimpse of things to come for the salmon. As far as the medium. All my paintings are a healthy mix of oil, acrylic, fabric dyes, glue, pictures, and parts and pieces of many paintings previously done. I like to experiment. I've even been known to use a belt sander on some of my paintings :)" Cool, isn't it? I'm flattered that my photographs helped inspire someone to create an even more impressive work of art :) I posted this on Feb. 3, 2009 - a year later, such sad news...
