Camp Helen State Park is a relatively new addition to the Florida State Park system (1994).  It is bordered on 3 sides by water from the Gulf of Mexico and Lake Powell, one of the largest coastal dune lakes in Florida.  It was once a private summer camp and so there are historic buildings to tour but there is also a nice nature trail that meanders through an oak forest and a wide strip of white sand beach.  I also looked for the sea monster that's been rumored to live in Lake Powell but did not have any luck spotting it :(  Anyway, it was a nice afternoon exploring this little park on my last day in Florida...

Hmmm...  no sea monsters here
