The Wave

March 19, 2009
Finally, with permits in hand, we got to hike to the Wave :)  This is a spectacularly smooth and scenic sandstone gully in the Coyote Buttes area of Paria River/Vermillion Cliffs Wilderness which straddles the AZ/UT border.  The hike to get to the Wave is not on a maintained trail...  but once you secure a permit the BLM gives you good directions to get there.  It's 6 miles round trip with a lot of up and down and slogging through sand and traversing steep slick rock.  But, yes, it is totally worth it.  It is a flat-out incredible place!  Hope you enjoy my photos :)
Next part of the trip - Lake Powell
